Government Opens Doors for Tech Students

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has officially announced the launch of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) Winter Internship Programme 2026. The two-month offline initiative aims to provide eligible students with practical industry experience and technical exposure within a prominent government organisation.

Applications are scheduled to open on November 2, with the internship set to run from December 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027, at the NIC headquarters in New Delhi. The programme offers a total of 50 seats for aspiring technology professionals.

Stipend and Duration Details

Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000, bringing the total compensation to Rs 20,000 for the standard two-month duration. Furthermore, the governing guidelines note that the internship may be extended by an additional month under specific conditions, which would include a proportionate increase in the stipend.

Upon successful completion of the programme, all participants will be awarded a formal certification. However, officials clarified that the internship does not constitute a formal employment offer with the NIC.
