Traders Sound Alarm Over Peak Season Disruption

NEW DELHI — As the festive shopping season reaches its crescendo, the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has made a renewed appeal to Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, urging him to reschedule the INDIA bloc's proposed mega-rally slated for November 1 at the Ramlila Maidan.

The apex body representing Delhi's traders and entrepreneurs warns that the massive political gathering—estimated to draw a turnout of one million people and tens of thousands of vehicles—will critically choke major wholesale and retail commercial hubs during the most lucrative business days of the year.

Following Gandhi's rejection of their initial appeal via social media, CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal dispatched a detailed follow-up communication. Copies of the representation were also forwarded to Congress President Malliquarjun Kharge, requesting urgent intervention and dialogue with opposition allies.

Economic Impact on Key Markets

Traders operating across twenty major markets situated in the immediate vicinity of the Ramlila Maidan expressed deep apprehension regarding anticipated security clampdowns, barricading, and severe traffic congestion. Business owners fear that strict perimeter controls could effectively seal off access points for customers and delivery transport on October 31 and November 1.

The commercial concerns extend across Delhi's premier trading districts, including:

* Chandni Chowk and Bhagirath Palace * Khari Baoli and Sadar Bazar * Chawri Bazar and Kashmere Gate * Nabi Karim and Karol Bagh

According to preliminary logistical assessments by trade associations, between 15,000 and 20,000 commercial buses alongside numerous private vehicles are expected to converge on the Capital for the demonstration. Because every arterial route leading to the Ramlila Maidan cuts directly through these densely packed commercial zones, the economic fallout could be severe.

Political Standpoint

The standoff intensified after Gandhi addressed the business community through a public post on social media, asserting that the protest actions are a direct response to electoral transparency grievances and government measures. While acknowledging the concerns of Delhi's merchants, the opposition leadership has maintained its stance on the protest schedule, leaving traders anxious as the deadline approaches.
