Delegation Pushes for Strategic Partnerships

LUCKNOW — In a major boost to Uttar Pradesh's industrial landscape, a 14-member delegation of Singaporean industrialists and investors has expressed strong interest in pouring capital into the state. During a high-level meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the delegation—led by the Singapore Business Federation—proposed the development of a dedicated 'Singapore City' and a high-tech industrial township near the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar.

The discussions covered a wide spectrum of high-growth economic sectors, including logistics, semiconductor manufacturing, data centers, green energy, urban planning, and hospitality.

Economic Transformation Under the 'Double-Engine' Government

Addressing the delegation, Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted the state's drastic economic turnaround over the past nine and a half years, noting that Uttar Pradesh has successfully shed its historical 'BIMARU' tag to become a primary engine of India's national economic growth.

According to state government figures, the state's overall economy, annual budget, and per capita income have tripled during this period. Adityanath reaffirmed his administration's commitment to transforming memorandum-of-understanding (MoU) pledges into ground-level projects and actual manufacturing output.

Highlighting Uttar Pradesh's growing manufacturing footprint, the Chief Minister noted that the state currently accounts for approximately 55 percent of India's total mobile phone production and nearly 60 percent of electronic components manufacturing nationwide. He also pointed out that the state maintains a land bank exceeding 75,000 acres dedicated to industrial development, alongside 27 integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters currently under construction.

Ground-Level Investments and New Approvals

Concrete progress materialized during the visit with several official agreements and approvals being finalized:

* Universal Packaging Hub: Greater Nashik Infracon Pvt Ltd was officially issued an eligibility certificate to establish a massive packaging facility within the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area. Backed by a Rs 775 crore investment, the 50-acre project is projected to create 1,880 direct employment opportunities. * Agrocorp International: An MoU was exchanged with Agrocorp to set up a specialized manufacturing plant focusing on soy and chickpea protein production. * Blue Planet Environmental Solutions: Agreements were finalized for advanced waste-processing infrastructure, including legacy waste treatment in Noida and a 350-tonne-per-day waste-processing facility in Saharanpur, representing an investment ranging between Rs 250 crore and Rs 350 crore.

Singapore Business Federation President Mark Lee lauded Uttar Pradesh's expanding infrastructure, extensive expressway networks, and proactive investor policies, stating that the state presents compelling long-term business prospects for Singaporean enterprises.
