Assam Government Unveils Major Recruitment Drive

In a significant push for public sector employment, the Assam government has announced a massive recruitment drive to fill 5,734 vacancies across six key state departments. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who outlined the timeline and preparation window for young aspirants aiming to secure government positions.

The formal recruitment process is officially scheduled to commence on February 1, 2027. Providing ample time for applicants to gear up for the competitive examinations and physical tests, the administration has ensured a three-month preparation window leading up to the start date.

Department-Wise Breakdown of Vacancies

The expansive recruitment drive encompasses critical administrative and security wings of the state. The Assam Police department accounts for the lions share of the openings, followed closely by the Forest Department and other essential services.

* Assam Police: 2,236 posts * Forest Department: 1,307 posts * Home Guard: 827 posts * APRO (Assam Police Radio Organization): 684 posts * Fire & Emergency Services: 489 posts * Prisons Department: 191 posts

Encouragement for Young Aspirants

Taking to social media to share the official update, Chief Minister Sarma encouraged the state's youth to dedicate themselves to their preparation over the coming months. He emphasized that the three-month notice period is designed to give every candidate a fair and adequate opportunity to prepare and put their best foot forward to secure a place among the selected candidates.

The state administration expects a high volume of applications given the scale of the recruitment across multiple departments, particularly within the police and forestry sectors. Detailed guidelines regarding eligibility criteria, age limits, educational qualifications, and the online application procedure are expected to be released by the respective department boards in the weeks leading up to the February launch.
