Delhi Businessman's Residence Targeted in Gunfire; Rohit Godara Gang Claims Responsibility
Unknown assailants fired six rounds outside a Dubai-based businessman's Delhi residence, with an audio clip linking the attack to the Rohit Godara gang.

Gunfire Shocks Northwest Delhi Neighbourhood
New Delhi: A wave of panic swept through an upscale residential pocket in northwest Delhi's Lok Vihar early Wednesday morning after two motorcycle-borne assailants opened rapid gunfire outside the residence of a Dubai-based businessman. Investigators are probing an apparent gangland extortion angle following claims of responsibility circulated widely on social media.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 AM in the A-Block of Lok Vihar. According to local law enforcement, the target was the residence of Sahil Jain, commonly known as Google. At least six rounds were discharged during the brazen attack, with bullets striking a private vehicle parked outside the premises as well as the facade of an adjacent home. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the early morning shooting.
Gang Threat and Extortion Angles
Shortly after the incident, an audio recording surfaced on various social media channels in which an individual identifying himself as Rahul Fatehpur—purportedly affiliated with the Gilli Rana faction and the notorious Rohit Godara criminal syndicate—claimed responsibility for the shooting.
In the audio clip, the speaker characterizes the violent outburst as a direct warning to Jain for allegedly supporting rival criminal outfits. The speaker threatens severe physical harm if the warnings are ignored, underscoring that the businessman has a family to safeguard. However, the authenticity of the audio file and the identity of the speaker remain unverified by official sources.
Senior Delhi Police officials have also brought historical threat assessments into the ongoing investigation. Investigators are probing potential overlaps with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang network. Records indicate that Jain had previously received threats from the incarcerated gangster back in 2021, prompting a formal case registration via the Special Cell in 2023.
"There was no fresh threat after that. No one has claimed responsibility for the firing officially, and we are working on the intelligence," stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Akansha Yadav.
Comprehensive Forensics and Manhunt Underway
Crime branch teams and forensic experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) immediately secured the crime scene to gather physical evidence. Investigators recovered one live cartridge and two spent shell casings from the location, alongside seizing relevant exhibits for detailed ballistics examination.
Preliminary reviews of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from surrounding thoroughfares reveal two suspects arriving aboard a motorcycle. The rider wore a protective helmet, while the pillion passenger concealed his face with a cloth. Footage captures the passenger dismounting, discharging multiple rounds toward the target residence, and fleeing the scene with his accomplice.
Police have formed multiple dedicated teams to scour local entry and exit routes, analyze extensive digital surveillance logs, and establish the exact motives behind the targeted intimidation attempt as the investigation deepens.
