Ghaziabad Murder Plot Foiled as Victim Survives Stabbing

GHAZIABAD — Local law enforcement in the National Capital Region has arrested a woman and her gym trainer for allegedly conspiring to murder her husband after he discovered their illicit relationship. The victim survived the targeted attack, sustaining multiple stab wounds inside his residence.

According to senior police officials, the incident occurred on the morning of October 26 at a residential society in Vasundhara Sector-1, falling under the jurisdiction of the Indirapuram police station. The victim, Shashank Kantharia, was attacked inside his home moments after his wife, Priya Sharma, left for her fitness class.

The primary assailant has been identified as Pratap Singh, a fitness trainer employed at a local gym where Sharma had been training for several months. Investigators revealed that the pair grew close over a seven-month period, eventually initiating a romantic relationship and communicating frequently via messaging applications.

The Attack and Investigation

Police reports indicate that Kantharia had uncovered the affair and was planning to relocate his household following the Diwali festivities. Learning of his intentions, the suspects allegedly plotted to eliminate him.

Investigators stated that Singh and Sharma met during a morning jog on October 25 to finalize the conspiracy. The following morning, Sharma allegedly left the residential entry gate unlocked. Singh entered the premises armed with a knife and inflicted multiple stab wounds on Kantharia.

As the severely injured victim cried out for assistance, the perpetrator fled the scene. Neighbors and local authorities were alerted, and Kantharia was rushed to Yashoda Medicity Hospital, where emergency medical intervention saved his life.

Legal Proceedings

A formal criminal complaint was filed by the victim's brother, prompting an immediate police response. Authorities have successfully recovered the weapon used in the assault.

Priya Sharma and Pratap Singh have both been taken into custody and charged under relevant sections of the law for attempted murder and criminal conspiracy. Further investigations are currently underway.
