Bhilwara Police Crack Heinous Crime

Law enforcement authorities in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district have arrested two individuals, including a neighbour of the victim, in connection with the brutal murder of a 70-year-old woman. The perpetrators allegedly targeted the elderly woman for her gold jewellery before resorting to burning her body and dumping the remains in an attempt to destroy evidence.

The victim, identified as Kamla Devi Kankaria, lived alone in Veer Savarkar Nagar. According to local police, she was strangled to death on October 12, after which the accused stripped her of approximately 15 tolas of gold jewellery.

Investigation and Breakthrough

The grim reality of the crime came to light after the victim's daughter-in-law formally reported her missing on October 15.

Bhim Ganj Station House Officer (SHO) Sunil Choudhary stated that a thorough review of local CCTV footage provided the crucial breakthrough. The video evidence captured the victim in the company of a neighbour, subsequently identified as 43-year-old Ravi Tapadia, on the day of her disappearance.

Upon being detained and questioned by investigators, Tapadia allegedly confessed to orchestrating the crime alongside an associate, Heera Sindhi.

Recovery of Remains

Acting on information extracted during the interrogation, police teams deployed heavy machinery, including an earthmover, to the Kothari River near the Paldi culvert. Authorities successfully recovered the victim's bones and ashes from the riverbed on Tuesday.

Police confirmed that further forensic examinations and investigations are currently underway to ensure a watertight case against the accused.
