A Rare High-Profile Outreach in the Valley

In what is being viewed as a significant milestone in the socio-political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, a diverse cross-section of Kashmiri society—including traders, youth leaders, civil society members, intellectuals, and religious scholars—convened in Srinagar on Tuesday for a mega conference. The event marked a rare high-profile public outreach by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the heart of the Valley.

Held under the banner of 'Asluk Aalav' (Our Call), the conference was jointly organised by the RSS in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Development Foundation (JKDF) and the Al Rahim Trust.

Cross-Section of Leadership in Attendance

The Akhil Bharatiya Samparkh Pramukh (All-India Public Outreach Head) of the RSS, Ram Lal, attended the high-profile gathering as the chief guest. The event drew several prominent local figures, reflecting a broad spectrum of political and religious representation.

Key attendees included J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, Islamic scholar Maulana Owais Raza Qadri, and Adil Mohiuddin. The proceedings were spearheaded by JKDF Chairman Bilal Parray and Al Rahim Trust Chairman Nazir Ahmad Gilkar.

The conference served as the culmination of the 'Asluk Aalav' initiative, which previously included five theme-based seminars designed to build mutual understanding, trust, and constructive engagement among different communities in the region.

Emphasizing Dialogue and Social Harmony

Addressing the packed auditorium, senior RSS leader Ram Lal underscored the necessity of open communication. "Dialogue and meaningful interaction among different sections of society are essential to strengthening mutual understanding, trust and social harmony," he stated.

Organizers expressed optimism regarding the long-term impact of the initiative. JKDF Chairman Bilal Parray noted that the core objective was to create an inclusive space where divergent perspectives could contribute constructively to the region's progress. Echoing this sentiment, Al Rahim Trust Chairman Nazir Ahmad Gilkar emphasized that the conference mirrors a shared collective vision for a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
