Rapid Consumer Uptake on Quick Commerce

Apple’s highly anticipated first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, experienced an immediate sell-out on quick commerce platform Blinkit within five minutes of going on sale. Albinder Dhindsa, founder of Blinkit, shared the update on social media, noting that the device became available at 8:15 a.m. for customers across the Delhi-NCR region, with all allocated inventory clearing out almost instantly.

While the platform did not disclose the exact number of units put up for sale, the rapid transaction window highlights the burgeoning demand for ultra-premium consumer electronics delivered via rapid logistics networks.

Pricing and Specifications

The device officially debuted in India with a starting price of Rs 2,99,900 for the base 256GB configuration, scaling up to Rs 4,49,900 for the top-tier 2eTB variant. Mid-tier options include the 512GB model priced at Rs 3,24,900 and the 1TB version at Rs 3,74,900.

Designed around a titanium frame, the iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch flexible inner display folding down into a compact form factor complemented by a 5.4-inch outer cover screen. Under the hood, the device is powered by Apple's new A20 Pro chip and incorporates a 48-megapixel Dual Fusion camera system.

Public Reaction and Market Significance

The swift sell-out triggered varied responses across digital platforms, with users questioning the exact inventory volume while others expressed astonishment at the high-end consumer purchasing power in urban markets. Concurrently, physical retail locations, including Apple's flagship store at Select Citywalk Mall in New Delhi, witnessed long queues and large crowds as buyers sought to secure the new hardware on launch day.

Blinkit leadership indicated that supply chain teams are actively working to procure additional inventory to restock the platform in the coming weeks.
