Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone segment with the launch of the iPhone Duo, marking a significant structural shift in its flagship product lineup. The device bridges smartphone mobility with a tablet-sized workspace when unfolded, incorporating newly developed hinge mechanisms and an updated operating system designed for dual-screen environments.

However, the device's steep market entry point and initial supply constraints have introduced fresh considerations for prospective buyers in India.

Display Specifications and Build

According to official manufacturer details, the iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner OLED screen alongside a 5.4-inch outer display. Both panels support a 120Hz refresh rate and deliver up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness.

The larger internal canvas is configured for multitasking and expanded media consumption, while the outer cover screen accommodates standard one-handed usage. The hardware weighs 254 grams and measures 11.3 millimetres in thickness when folded, utilizing a titanium chassis paired with Ceramic Shield glass and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

Performance, Hardware, and Software Limits

Powered by Apple's A20 Pro processor, the device incorporates a 48-megapixel dual-camera array. Unlike traditional Face ID implementations, the unit relies on Touch ID for biometric authentication.

Early industry reviews and market assessments have highlighted certain compromises, including the absence of a dedicated telephoto camera lens. In the Indian market, the iPhone Duo starts at Rs 2,99,900 for the 256GB base variant, with higher-tier configurations extending up to 2TB in Star White and Night Sky finishes.

Global pre-orders exhausted initial stock inventories rapidly, extending delivery timelines well into early 2027. Domestically, official Apple retail locations have restricted walk-in availability, limiting purchases strictly to customers holding prior online reservations.
