Audacious Daytime Heist in Northwest Delhi

In a brazen daylight robbery, unidentified perpetrators targeted the residence of an Indian Air Force (IAF) warrant officer in northwest Delhi's Rohini area, decamping with gold and silver jewellery estimated to be worth between Rs 35 and 40 lakh.

The incident took place on October 7 around noon in Pocket 14 of Sector 24, falling under the jurisdiction of the Begumpur police station. According to investigators, the home belonged to Warrant Officer Shamu Shide, who is currently posted in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and had moved into the newly rented premises merely two months prior.

CCTV Captures Suspects on Scooter

Preliminary investigations and security camera footage retrieved from the neighborhood have provided crucial leads to law enforcement agencies. Visuals from a CCTV camera installed near the property captured two masked men arriving at the location on a scooter at approximately 12:06 PM.

According to the officer's account, the duo conducted a brief recensy outside the house before cutting the main door lock using heavy-duty tools. Once inside, the burglars ransacked the premises, throwing clothes across the rooms as they targeted a bedroom cupboard containing the family's valuables.

The footage showed the suspects exiting the residential compound at around 2:12 PM, carrying the stolen loot. The perpetrators had meticulously covered their faces using black masks and helmets to evade facial recognition, posing a significant challenge to the identifying teams.

Police Launch Manhunt

At the time of the break-in, Warrant Officer Shide's two daughters were away, and his wife had briefly stepped out to a nearby tailoring shop. The officer reported that alongside the substantial quantity of gold and silver ornaments, a minor amount of cash totaling between Rs 2,000 and Rs 4,000 was also missing.

Local police have formally registered an FIR based on the officer's complaint filed on the day of the incident. Multiple special investigation teams have been constituted to examine further CCTV trail routes across Rohini and track down the culprits.
