Investigation and Police Custody

Delhi Police have taken social media content creator Amir Shaukeen to Ahmedabad for a crime scene reconstruction as part of an ongoing investigation into a viral video containing racially derogatory remarks. Escorted by a four-member team from the Sadar Bazar police station, Shaukeen was seen visibly breaking down and issuing public apologies as legal proceedings advanced.

Shaukeen admitted to his involvement in the incident, acknowledging that his words and physical actions directed toward a young man from Tripura were entirely inappropriate. The case gained widespread momentum after the controversial clip circulated across digital platforms, drawing severe condemnation from civil society, political figures, and citizens nationwide.

Public Backlash and Political Pressure

The derogatory video sparked immediate outrage, particularly across the Northeast. High-ranking political figures weighed in heavily on the matter, with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju publicly calling for strict legal consequences. Simultaneously, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha intervened by directing the state's Director General of Police to coordinate directly with Delhi authorities to ensure swift legal action.

Facing intense public scrutiny and mounting political pressure, law enforcement moved rapidly to apprehend Shaukeen, leading to his current detention under the Delhi Police.

Apology and Defense Claims

Speaking from custody, Shaukeen expressed deep remorse, claiming his actions were not intended to incite hatred or cause deliberate harm.

"I want to apologise to the people of the Northeast. I didn't mean to give any wrong message... A mistake happened with me; please forgive me, and I didn't do anything intentionally," Shaukeen stated, adding that he is fully cooperating with investigators during the ongoing evidence collection and scene recreation process.

In an earlier defense video released prior to his arrest, Shaukeen attempted to downplay the incident, describing the interaction as a scripted, humorous exchange involving an acquaintance who had previously worked at an Ahmedabad cafe. However, investigators and legal experts continue to evaluate the digital evidence independently as the formal prosecution proceeds.
