Political Aftershocks in Bihar

Bihar's political landscape witnessed a fresh round of friction as recently expelled MLA Anant Singh launched a scathing attack on the Janata Dal (United), asserting that the ruling party has lost its political relevance and future following leadership shifts.

Singh, representing the Mokama constituency, was handed a six-year expulsion from the JD(U) over alleged anti-party activities. The disciplinary action followed accusations that he openly defied party directives during the recent Bihar Legislative Council elections by campaigning for a candidate backed by the Jan Suraaj platform in the Patna Graduates' constituency.

Despite the severe penalty, Singh maintained a defiant stance, stating he had no regrets regarding the unfolding political developments.

'JD(U) Has No Future Without Nitish Kumar'

Interacting with media representatives, Singh directed sharp criticism at the current management of the party. He claimed that the organization, which was built under the stewardship of veteran leader Nitish Kumar, faces an uncertain electoral future.

"The party belonged to Nitish Kumar, and he made the decisions himself. What is left in the party now? Who contributed to it? The party has expelled me, but what have those people done?" Singh remarked, adding that the political outfit would likely suffer heavy electoral setbacks in the upcoming polls.

However, the expelled legislator maintained a distinct line of separation regarding Nitish Kumar himself, reiterating that he harbors no personal animosity or disputes with the senior leader.

"I have no differences or disputes with Nitish Kumar. I will meet him again. I will never criticise Nitish Ji, whatever party I go to," Singh stated.

Legislative Action and Defection Proceedings

The disciplinary crackdown extends beyond Anant Singh, encompassing his wife and former MLA Neelam Devi, who faced similar termination of primary party membership.

JD(U) state president Umesh Kushwaha formalized the decision, citing continuous breaches of official directives and public disparagement of senior leadership. Moving swiftly beyond internal party measures, the organization has formally approached the Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, seeking Anant Singh's disqualification under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution, which governs anti-defection provisions.

Looking ahead, Singh indicated intentions to chart an independent political course, declaring plans to establish a new political entity rather than seeking alignment with conventional party structures.
