Investigation Points to Extortion and Gang Signaling

The targeted shooting incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was allegedly orchestrated to extort funds, assert gang dominance, and cultivate an atmosphere of fear within the entertainment industry, according to extensive findings from the Mumbai Police investigation.

Investigators from the Mumbai Crime Branch are systematically dissecting the criminal network behind the attack. Police assessments indicate that the October 18 firing outside the actor's Juhu residence was designed to send a definitive message, leveraging the high-profile nature of the victim to amplify the syndicate's influence.

At least two assailants fired five to six rounds at Shroff’s vehicle before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. The vehicle was later recovered abandoned in the Andheri area. While the actor escaped relatively unhurt, his driver and a bystander sustained injuries during the brazen daylight attack. Authorities have registered a comprehensive case under the stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, encompassing charges of attempted murder and related offenses.

Court Extends Custody of Four Accused

In a related development, a Mumbai court on Monday extended the police custody of four individuals allegedly involved in facilitating the shooters. The suspects—identified as Kunal (21) and Sumit (19), both hailing from Haryana's Sonipat district, along with Radha (23) and Babita (23) from Uttar Pradesh—were produced before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate S. Khedkar at the Esplanade Court.

With this latest extension, their remand has been prolonged until October 28. The four individuals form part of a broader network of 11 arrests made thus far in connection with the case.

Unearthing the Wider Conspiracy

During the remand hearings, prosecution counsels argued that the accused possessed full knowledge of the overarching conspiracy. Investigators emphasized the critical need to confront the quartet with previously detained co-accused to bridge gaps in the chronology of events.

Furthermore, cyber and forensic units are currently extracting and analyzing digital data recovered from the mobile devices seized from the suspects. The Crime Branch anticipates uncovering further operational links, financial trails, and mastermind handlers as the interrogation intensifies.
