Strategic Financial Infrastructure Expansion

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Odisha on Sunday to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) newly established data centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 169 crore, the cutting-edge facility is located at Info Valley-II in Jatni, near Bhubaneswar.

Landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft, the Prime Minister was received by senior officials before traveling via helicopter and road to the site. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also arrived separately to participate in the high-profile inauguration.

Strengthening National Financial Security

Spanning across an expansive 18.55-acre campus, the newly unveiled Jatni facility marks the second such major installation for the central bank in the country, following its primary data centre in Navi Mumbai. The foundation stone for the Odisha project was originally laid by former RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das on March 22, 2023.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hailed the establishment of the data centre as a significant milestone in the state's ongoing developmental journey, emphasizing its critical role in bolstering technological infrastructure.

Robust Security and Logistics

In light of the high-profile visit, local authorities implemented stringent security protocols across the capital region. Approximately 2,100 security personnel were deployed along transit routes, while temporary traffic restrictions were enforced between the RBI facility and the airport during the late afternoon hours.

This visit marks Prime Minister Modi's return to the eastern state four months after his last official engagement commemorating two years of the current state administration.
