A couple sustained injuries after a speeding Toyota Fortuner rammed their car on the Hyderabad-Warangal National Highway, leading to a police probe into underage and drunk driving.

Hyderabad Accident Prompts Crackdown on Fake Number Plates and Underage Driving
HYDERABAD — A routine early morning commute turned into a harrowing ordeal for a young couple when a speeding Toyota Fortuner rammed into their Hyundai i10 from behind near Peerzadiguda in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. The collision, which occurred on Thursday morning, has triggered a broader police investigation into vehicular violations, underage driving, and suspected driving under the influence.
The impact of the crash was severe. According to eyewitness reports and CCTV footage recovered from the scene, the i10 overturned multiple times upon impact. Meanwhile, the out-of-control Fortuner veered off course, crashing violently into an electricity pole. The pole snapped under the force of the collision and collapsed directly onto the SUV.
Victims Hospitalized
The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Sai Shiva and his 28-year-old wife, Meghana. The couple was traveling from LB Nagar to Narsampet in the Warangal district when the luxury SUV struck their vehicle at approximately 6:30 AM near a petrol pump on the Uppal-Narapally elevated corridor.
Emergency responders rushed both victims to a private hospital in Chaitanyapuri, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported from the incident.
Investigation Reveals Multiple Violations
Local law enforcement swiftly apprehended the driver of the Fortuner, identified as an intermediate student. Investigators have stated that preliminary assessments strongly suggest the minor was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
Further inspection of the vehicle revealed a disturbing string of infractions. Police confirmed that the driver was operating the SUV without a valid driver's license. Compounding the legal jeopardy, the vehicle was fitted with a fake registration number plate.
Authorities have also registered a formal case against the owner of the SUV, identified as Mangilal, holding him accountable for permitting an unauthorized and unlicensed driver to operate the vehicle.
Intensified Traffic Enforcement
This incident highlights a growing crackdown by the Hyderabad Traffic Police against the use of fraudulent and unauthorized registration plates. In an ongoing eight-month enforcement drive, law enforcement agencies have registered 100 criminal cases and seized an equal number of vehicles for severe number-plate violations.
Daily News 365 will continue to track this developing investigation as local authorities determine further legal actions against the vehicle owner and the detained driver.
