A Journey Through Time: Holographic Interaction at Bharat Mandapam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Friday, marking the occasion with a unique technological and spiritual experience. During the event, the Prime Minister interacted with a holographic avatar of the late spiritual leader, Swami Chinmayananda, who passed away in August 1993.

Describing the encounter as deeply emotional, PM Modi noted that the use of advanced technology made the spiritual presence feel remarkably vivid. He mentioned that seeing the hologram felt as though he had traveled back 33 years to his initial interactions with the revered teacher.

Recalling a 1993 Memory

Addressing the gathering of saints, scholars, and devotees, the Prime Minister recounted his first meeting with Swami Chinmayananda, which took place around February or March 1993. He had approached the spiritual leader to invite him to the World Parliament of Religions' centenary celebrations held later that year in Chicago.

Swami Chinmayananda accepted the invitation to represent India's spiritual heritage on the global stage, though he passed away just weeks before the event on August 3, 1993. Reflecting on the Chicago conference held on September 11 of that year, PM Modi recalled feeling the profound absence of the leader whose guidance left an enduring impression on him.

The Continuing Legacy of the Chinmaya Mission

During the holographic exchange, the digital representation of Swami Chinmayananda conveyed support and expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister's leadership. PM Modi emphasized that the Chinmaya Mission transcends a mere institution, representing a core philosophy termed 'Chinmaya Vichar' that continues to spread India's spiritual wisdom worldwide.

The three-day global conference highlights the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, the necessity of awakening the youth, and the preservation of India's cultural heritage. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the saints and organizers for maintaining the relevance of these foundational principles for contemporary generations.
