Dubai Unveils Plans for World's Longest 24-Karat Gold Walkway by Late 2026
Dubai is set to construct a pioneering 24-karat gold walkway in Deira's Gold District, slated to open by late 2026 to boost luxury tourism and trade.

A Golden Pathway to Luxury Tourism
Dubai is expanding its portfolio of luxury tourist attractions with an ambitious new project: a dedicated walkway crafted from 24-karat gold. Scheduled to open by the end of 2026, the unique infrastructure development aims to cement the city's reputation as the premier global capital for precious metal trading and high-end tourism.
According to officials at the Dubai Gold District, the upcoming attraction will be the first of its kind globally and stands to become the longest gold walkway ever built. The project is designed to offer both residents and international visitors an immersive experience along a meticulously engineered, shimmering path.
The announcement comes closely on the heels of another major milestone for the region's gold industry. Recently, a pair of traditional Indian jhumka earrings crafted by Joyalukkas Jewellery earned dual Guinness World Records titles as both the heaviest and largest pair of earrings in the world, further spotlighting Dubai's prominence in luxury craftsmanship.
Strengthening the Deira Gold District
The proposed walkway serves as a centerpiece for the Dubai Gold District's wider strategic vision. Launched in January in the historic Deira neighborhood, the district unifies diverse sectors including gold trading, wholesale markets, bullion investments, and high-end jewellery retail.
Data from the Dubai Media Office indicates that the district already houses over 1,000 active retailers spanning lifestyle goods, cosmetics, perfumery, and fine jewelry. Furthermore, the commercial sector is experiencing rapid expansion. Rashid Al Harmoudi, Senior Director of the Commercial Sector at the Dubai Gold District, reported a 20% year-to-date growth in newly operational wholesale gold trading offices, alongside a 15% increase in specialty storefronts.
Economic Outlook and Future Expansion
Beyond retail growth, developers are moving forward with plans for a massive gold and jewellery trade exhibition projected to become the largest of its kind across the Middle East. Ongoing construction aims to deliver extensive new office and retail spaces to accommodate surging demand from international firms.
Commercial authorities anticipate that corporate relocations and expansions within the district will continue to rise by 10% to 20% over the coming year. By introducing the 24-karat gold walkway, officials expect to drive foot traffic, enhance commercial visibility, and draw international tourists to one of the city's most culturally and economically significant commercial hubs.
